You paid a copay, a deductible or the full cash price at the pharmacy counter. Four cases pay back part of that money. The generic drug settlement is the biggest at $533 million and covers about 200 medications bought between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019 outside Indiana and Ohio. Chantix covers September 29, 2015 to September 17, 2021. Kroger covers insured prescriptions from December 9, 2018 to August 23, 2026. Strides covers June 1, 2022 to July 31, 2025.
All four pay in proportion to what you spent. Chantix caps at your purchase price. Strides pays 40% to 100% of the documented cost. Kroger and the generic drug case pay a pro rata share on eligible spending. A fully covered prescription where you paid nothing counts in none of them.
You may qualify if
- ✓You bought one of the covered drugs inside its date window.
- ✓You paid at least part of the cost yourself, as a copay, deductible or cash price.
- ✓You bought it in the United States or a U.S. territory, and outside Indiana and Ohio for the generic drug case.
- ✓You have, or can get from the pharmacy, a record showing the drug, the date and the amount.
Strides and the generic drug case require pharmacy or insurer records, and Chantix and Kroger scale each payment to purchases the administrator can document.

How do I know if my generic drug is one of the 200 covered?
The official settlement site publishes the list of covered medications. Check it before filing. You had to buy the drug between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019, pay something out of pocket, and buy it in a state other than Indiana or Ohio (Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands count). Federal government entities, state Medicaid agencies, pharmacy benefit managers and fully insured employers are excluded. The deadline is November 9, 2026.
I used insurance at Kroger. Does that still count?
Yes, the Kroger case is specifically about insured prescriptions. The test is that you paid all or part of the cost of at least one prescription drug at a Kroger pharmacy using insurance between December 9, 2018 and August 23, 2026. Payment is pro rata on eligible spending, no documents are required to file, and the deadline is December 21, 2026.
