What does an author need for the AI book piracy claim?
Three things. You are the author or rights holder of a book with an ISBN or ASIN. The book is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office and you own the reproduction rights. What data did the Mercor breach expose?
Mercor disclosed in March 2026 that a supply-chain attack through the LiteLLM open-source library exposed about 4 terabytes of contractor data, including Social Security numbers, government IDs, payment information, facial biometric data, voice recordings and AI video interview footage. Claims are brought as individual arbitrations through JAMS. To file you must have signed a Worker Agreement or submitted a W-9, uploaded ID or completed a recorded interview, and received Mercor's notification email, which you are asked to share.
