If you took delivery of a Tesla in California before December 16, 2016 with free lifetime Supercharging, still owned it after that date, and paid Supercharger idle fees, you may qualify for a refund of those fees. The deadline is September 25, 2026, and you file one claim per eligible vehicle.

You need the LoginID and PIN from your settlement notice to use the online form. If you do not have them, the administrator can send them.

The case is Shenkman v. Tesla, Inc., Case No. RG21102833. Tesla denies wrongdoing, and the court has not ruled on who is right. The administrator and the court decide eligibility and amounts, not this site.

You may qualify if

  • You received an eligible Tesla in California before December 16, 2016 and kept owning it after that date.
  • You were a California citizen as of June 21, 2021.
  • Your purchase agreement described the car as Supercharger Enabled, Supercharger Hardware, or Supercharger Hardware & Access.

What you need to file

No receipts. The form runs on the LoginID and PIN printed on your notice. If yours is missing, request the credentials from the administrator before you start.

Each eligible vehicle needs its own claim form, so if you owned two qualifying Teslas, you file twice.

Filing is free on the official site. The Payout app lists this settlement too and sends you to the same form.

Deadline and what you get

Submit by September 25, 2026.

Eligible class members may receive a refund of idle fees paid through the settlement date. If Tesla disabled Supercharger access on an eligible vehicle for under 30 days, the settlement adds $50. If access was off for 30 or more consecutive days, it adds $350.

Current owners may also get non-cash relief. Former owners may elect a $10 payment instead. Exact amounts depend on the administrator's review of your account.

Questions about the Tesla Idle Fee case

I lost my notice. Can I still file?

Yes. Request your LoginID and PIN from the settlement administrator through the official site, then complete the form by September 25, 2026.

I sold the car. Do I still qualify?

Former owners are included. The settlement lets former owners elect a $10 payment, and any idle fee refund depends on what you paid while you owned the vehicle.

Do I need proof of the idle fees I paid?

The facts available do not list a receipt requirement. The refund is based on fees recorded on your account, and the administrator reviews each claim.

I have two qualifying Teslas. One form or two?

Two. The settlement requires a separate claim form for each eligible vehicle.
