You may qualify for the SunTrust overdraft fee settlement if you paid fees on a Georgia account between 2006 and 2014

If you lived in Georgia, banked with SunTrust, and got hit with overdraft fees on small debit or ATM transactions between July 12, 2006 and April 15, 2014, you may qualify for a share of a $240 million settlement.
No documents are required. The form is online, and you can file without a mailed notice. The deadline is September 14, 2026.
Payments run from $5 to $1,000, based on the fees you paid during that window plus 7% simple interest per year through December 31, 2025. The administrator, not this site, decides who qualifies.
You may qualify if
- ✓You are a Georgia resident who held at least one SunTrust deposit account that was still open on June 1, 2010.
- ✓That account had at least one overdraft of $500 or less caused by an ATM or debit card transaction between July 12, 2006 and April 15, 2014.
- ✓You paid overdraft fees on those transactions and SunTrust never refunded them.
- ✓You lived in Georgia continuously from July 12, 2010 through October 6, 2017.
What you need to file
No proof of the fees is needed. The bank's own records handle that.
If you got a mailed notice, it carries a Unique ID and PIN that log you into the online form. If you never got one, you can still file: complete the claim form online without the ID, or mail a paper form to the administrator.

Deadline and what you get
File by September 14, 2026. The court granted final approval on May 26, 2026, so this is past the approval stage and the administrator is taking claims now.
Your payment is calculated from the total overdraft fees you paid on qualifying transactions plus 7% simple interest per year through December 31, 2025. The range is $5 to $1,000.
The case, Bickerstaff v. SunTrust Bank, argued those fees counted as unlawful interest under Georgia's usury law. SunTrust denies wrongdoing and settled for $240 million.

I never got a notice in the mail. Can I still file?
Yes. The official site lets you complete the claim form online without a Unique ID, or you can mail a paper form to the administrator before September 14, 2026.
Do I need old bank statements?
No. The settlement does not require documentation. Your payment is calculated from the bank's records of the fees you paid.
I moved out of Georgia. Do I still qualify?
The class definition requires continuous Georgia residency from July 12, 2010 through October 6, 2017. If you moved after October 6, 2017, that requirement is unaffected. If you moved during that window, the administrator decides.
How much is the payment?
