If Equinox mailed you a breach notice about its April 29, 2024 data incident, you may qualify for an estimated $100 cash payment, or up to $5,000 if you can document losses. The deadline is October 23, 2026, and you need the notice ID from that letter.
Two lawsuits, McHugh v. Equinox and Carter v. Equinox, alleged the company failed to protect member data. The exposed fields may include Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, medical records and financial account details. Equinox denies wrongdoing and agreed to a $685,000 fund.

You may qualify if
- ✓Equinox sent you a written breach notice about the April 29, 2024 incident. The unique notice ID on it is required to file.
- ✓You live in the United States.
- ✓Your personal information, such as your Social Security number, medical records or financial data, was potentially exposed in that breach.
What you need to file
For the standard cash payment, the notice ID is the only thing you need. No receipts. For documented losses up to $5,000, attach receipts, bank statements, fraud correspondence or credit monitoring invoices tied to the breach.
The online form is six steps: find the letter, enter the notice ID on the settlement site, pick the standard payment or the documented-loss option, upload records if you chose losses, decide whether to enroll in credit monitoring, submit online or by mail. The standard path takes a few minutes.
Deadline and what you get
File by October 23, 2026. The standard payment is estimated at about $100 and is pro rata, so the final figure depends on how many valid claims come in against the $685,000 fund. Documented losses pay up to $5,000.
You can also enroll in three years of one-bureau credit monitoring, dark web monitoring and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance at no cost. The final approval hearing is November 12, 2026.
Questions about the Equinox Data Breach case
Can I file without the letter?
The form requires the unique notice ID printed on the breach letter. Eligibility is limited to people who received that written notice.
Do I need receipts for the $100 payment?
No. Receipts and statements are only for the documented-loss claim of up to $5,000.
Is the credit monitoring separate from the cash?
Yes. Enrolling in the three-year monitoring is optional and does not replace the cash payment.
