You may qualify for the Equifax duplicate reporting settlement if you got the 2022 letter
Last checked July 24, 2026
If Equifax mailed you a Duplicate Reporting Letter in August or September 2022, you may qualify for up to $600 in cash. The deadline is September 1, 2026, and you need the Claim ID from that letter.
The case, Bradberry v. Equifax Information Services LLC, alleged Equifax listed the same collection account more than once on people's credit reports, which made them look more indebted than they were. Equifax denies wrongdoing and set up a $2.2 million fund.
Filing on the official site is free. The administrator decides who is in the class.
You may qualify if
- ✓You received an Equifax Duplicate Reporting Letter in August or September 2022 saying a collection account may have shown up more than once on your report.
- ✓You can affirm the duplicate hurt you, for example through a lower score, a declined loan or a higher interest rate.
- ✓You live in the United States and Equifax reported on you during the affected period.
What you need to file
The proof is the letter itself. It carries your Claim ID, and the online form asks for it. You do not upload receipts or credit reports; you affirm on the form that the duplicate reporting harmed you.
The online form is five steps: find the 2022 letter, open the settlement site, enter the Claim ID and complete the form, affirm harm, save your confirmation. With the letter in hand it takes a few minutes.
Deadline and what you get
File by September 1, 2026. Cash claims pay up to $600. If you are in the class and do not file a cash claim, you automatically get six months of Equifax Complete credit monitoring, which includes up to $500,000 in identity theft coverage.
The fund is $2.2 million. The Payout app also lists this settlement and points to the same official form.
